For the fourth time, Downbeat Magazine’s yearly Critics Poll, has named Wycliffe Gordon, “Best Trombone”. Previous awards came in years 2012, 2013, and 2014.

The DownBeat Critics Poll is the quintessential list for jazz heavyweights and serious contenders in the music world.  The 64th Annual Awards have ranked some of the greatest performers in every instrument including trombone, trumpet, violin, flute, bass, saxophone and piano.

The mission of DownBeat is to bring to the frontlines some of the greatest in jazz–past and present along with the “rising starts” of tomorrow.
